Comm 634- 5.1

News is something that interest the audience that reads it. It should be revleavent and give enough information in order to give that audience something they did not know before. It should also be up to date. News can be irrelvant if it is not time specific. Most importantly, it has to first spark interest in the reader. The story or information will not even be read if the audience does not relate or is not interested in the news. News can be anything from world events to celebrities as long as the audience is interested. The reading states that the gatekeeper decides what is news. however I am sure that whoever that is knows what the audience deems as news. Train wrecks bloody stories and famous people interest a lot of people. their are a lot of stories in the media about these topics. However I consisder what went on during a town meeting as news even if the story would not spark the interest of many readers.

A public relations writer must provide a image that best represents their company to the public. this is persuasion. that is, influencing the public by presenting information in many ways in order to change their attitudes beliefs or perceptions of the company. no matter what type of communication a public relations writer chooses to use, influencing the public in some way is the main goal. the public is then free to decide whether or not they believe that message or that the message applies to them in a way that will influence them in some way. even communication within the company deals with persuasion. all the employees work for the same goal. however, the employees attitudes about the company might need to change, the entire goal of the company might need to change , or how the employees should now present themselves to the company might need to change. persuasion not only is needed for the public but also the employees inside the company.

Comm 634-1.2

At first creative writing seems to be the "fun" type of writing while the functional is the "boring" more thought out writing. before i read the chapter i believed that creative writing was writing anyhting you wanted about some imaginative sci-fi like topic. it had nothing to do with current news or topics of the day just some cool story someone writes , nothing informative. functional writing is informative, straightforward and not as free as creative writing. someone would have to be forced to write functionally while anyone at anytime could write creativley. however they can come together as the book notes. anything that is an orignal thought or an orignal way to organize a thought or an idea in a easy to read way is the combination of creative and funcitinal writing.

I dont really enjoy writing that much. It always seems like an assignment. i never write for fun . When i do have an assigment i usually get find writting easier the longer i think and just write. starting is always the hardest part for me. I dont find writeing all that easy but im really not that good at it. It really depends though. if it is about something i really enjoy or passionate about it is a lot easier. for example research papers that allow me to pick the topic are much eaiser for me to write and kind of enjoy because i like what i am writing about. i enjoy the reseach and i enjoy finding out new things about that subject. on the other hand, if i am forced to write something i am not intereested in, the writing process is dull and i cant really stand it. I would like to improve as a writer because i know no matter what profession i will be in it is a skill that is needed and desired in the workplace. I know i am not that skilled in the area and would like to become better at it. My grammer and spelling are horrilbe, also i can be extreemley wordy and say the same thing four times in the same paper just different ways. i would like to expand my vocabulary and be more concise.
